BACKGROUND
I am an artist, researcher, and educator in the field of art, media, and design at the higher education level. I graduated from the State University of Campinas (IA UNICAMP) with a degree in Visual Arts and earned a Ph.D. in Audiovisual Media Process from the University of Sao Paulo (ECA/USP).
As an author, I have created artistic works in various media, including photo and digital interfaces. Currently, I am conducting theoric research in the field of visualization, transplanar images, and practical experimentations with extended reality (XR), visual arts, and information design.
PROCESS
This webfolio summarizes approximately three decades of my artistic experimentation, which was divided between production time, educational activities, and academic research. Part of my process was dedicated to investigating the photographic image and its relationship with visual arts.
The works in the photo section are examples of research that advanced the production of intentionally non-normative images. Several experiments were carried out using analogue technologies, exploring graphic interferences on film and chemical processes. Alongside these technical aspects of my work, the poetics I have invested in for a long time has been guided by gestures of critical appropriation of spaces, objects, and even the staging of bodies in the search for the emergence of different types of narratives.
In the realm of digital art, this poetics still persists, operating on both material and immaterial components, visible and invisible. I consider that computational code programming, created to generate new forms and interfaces, as corresponding to the collage impulse, inventing images and experiences in a kind of redintegration process. Through the re-appropriation of computing and image processing technologies, I have found many ways in which matter and performance can beautifully inform the virtual.
PRODUCTION
In addition to my ongoing individual work, it is important to describe the significance of collaborating with fellow artists. In many circumstances, the process of collective thinking and production has fostered my poetic perspectives. Mainly, the emphasis on collaboration is reflected in the following list of achievements and participations in the world of exhibitions.
